Context
My name is Rocío López, and I am a Systems Engineering student at Universidad Fidélitas. During this academic term, I will participate in the WPCredits project and explore the WordPress open-source community.
The purpose of this project is to learn how contributors support WordPress through areas such as translation, documentation, development, design, testing, and community support.
Procedure
I began by reviewing the project requirements and creating the accounts needed to participate in the WordPress community. I also created this portfolio to document my activities, technical challenges, and progress throughout the academic term.
As part of the initial setup, I configured the website, created the main pages, selected a theme, and organized the navigation menu.

Obstacles
One of the first challenges was understanding the difference between a WordPress page, a post, and the homepage template created automatically by the selected theme.
I also had to learn how to configure a static homepage and add a navigation menu that appears throughout the website.
Lessons Learned
I learned that pages are mainly used for permanent content, while posts are used for chronological journal entries. I also understood that the homepage template controls the website layout, but the content can come from a regular page selected as the static homepage.
Reflection
I feel motivated to begin this project because it will allow me to learn about WordPress from a perspective that goes beyond building websites.
My next step is to complete the onboarding process and explore the available contribution areas.
