Context

This entry summarizes my experience participating in the WPCredits project and contributing to the WordPress community.

The project allowed me to explore WordPress from a perspective that goes beyond website creation.

Procedure

Throughout the academic term, I completed the onboarding process, selected a contribution area, learned how to use the translation platform, submitted contributions, reviewed terminology, and documented my progress.

I also created this portfolio to present evidence of my work and reflect on the challenges encountered during the process.

Final Results

  • Total translations submitted: 101
  • Total translations approved: 101
  • Total hours invested: 18
  • Journal posts published: 8

Evidence

Obstacles

The main challenges were understanding strings with limited context, maintaining consistent terminology, working with placeholders, and waiting for community reviews.

Another challenge was documenting each activity while continuing to make progress on the technical work.

Lessons Learned

I learned that open-source contributions require communication, patience, documentation, and attention to detail.

I also learned that translation is a technical process in which context, consistency, formatting, and user experience are as important as grammar.

Reflection

I feel satisfied with the progress I made during this project. At the beginning, the contribution process seemed unfamiliar, but each activity helped me understand it better.

If I completed the project again, I would document my contributions from the first day and review the translation guidelines more thoroughly before beginning.

I would like to continue exploring the WordPress ecosystem and apply these skills in future academic and professional projects.
